Follow the Leader?

Leadership in any industry can be defined in thousands of ways. Look on Amazon for books about leadership, likely more than 10,000 titles will emerge. Don’t we wish we could read a book and know exactly what to do everyday in our careers, whether in leadership or not?

Something I use personally and professionally is transparency. That doesn’t mean that I share everything, yes I do have boundaries (sometimes they are too tight). It means myself a”showing up” and pushing my ego aside. It means immediately admitting when I am wrong even when I don’t want to. It means admitting that those around me, including those I have hired, know a great deal more than me. It also means not ruling with an iron fist, but just going with the flow and witnessing organic changes. Leadership to me is about admitting I cannot control instead of trying to control. I am honored to have the opportunities to work with so many fascinating, intelligent, loving, and yes sometimes quirky people (me being the quirkiest)!

As you go into your day, just stop and watch. Witness what others bring to our lives. Be grateful even when things are feeling out of control. Thank the universe for allowing you to see what you are seeing.
