New tech ideas to help aging with dementia, depression and other conditions

Advances in technology continue to target ways to help older adults in need.  A pet-like robot is therapeutic to older people because it is cozy and soothing but also because it supports the “idea that if you care for something that looks appealing and looks needy, there is an immediate benefit to one’s psyche,” according to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.  In Toronto, researchers are using a simulated house to test tech solutions for older adults.  Robots are also being tested for their efficacy in helping senior adults with everyday tasks.
