Intergenerational living has benefits for all

A 21 year old music major at Drake College is living at a retirement community.  She needed affordable housing so the retirement company offered free room and board in exchange for her providing music programs to the residents. And did you know that there’s a similar arrangement happening right here in Cleveland?  Judson Manor has an artist-in-residence program and currently houses five young students from area colleges and is looking to grow the program.  As reported by the NIA, “Positive indicators of social well-being may be associated with lower levels of interleukin-6 in otherwise healthy people. Interleukin-6 is an inflammatory factor implicated in age-related disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and some forms of cancer.”  click here to read full article
