Dementia Awareness Week is a time to focus on educating the public

Dementia Awareness Week was launched by the Alzheimer’s Society after a study indicated that well over 50% of people delay a potential dementia diagnosis for up to a year or even more.  The study suggested that people avoid getting a diagnosis because they are so fearful of the disease.  Denying a diagnosis means less treatment, information and support.
